Geography

The Tidal Kingdom spans the vast majority of the ocean, with only a few areas being considered no-man’s-land due to their lack of life, difficult access, or extreme temperatures such as the north and south poles, which are instead ruled by the Frost Kingdom.

History
Like many others, the Tidal Kingdom began as a group of tribes scattered throughout the worlds’ Oceans, later condensing into not Clans, but Duchies.

Each major territory was led by a Duke or Duchess, and they would often live in peace.

Later however, as tensions arose on the surface, so did beneath the waves: the leaders wanted more power, and easy access to the surface lands to take advantage of the disputes that distracted their land cousins.
This did not end well however, the Tidal dragons saw it was better to focus on their own territories that surfacers couldn’t access unless they were adapted to aquatic life.

Seeing as the duchies would not agree with each other, a movement began to convene all of them into a single political power: the first Tidal monarchy.

This was met with a lot of resistance at first: they didn’t see the need for a single leader to decide their affairs, especially when they had been recovering the best out of everyone after the war against the Entity, which had ravaged the surface.

But as time passed, the words of their most powerful Tidal member, Lord Cascade, Duke of the Duchy known as Pearlescent Waves whom were known for their pacifism and knack for politics, began to ring in their ears when fights broke amongst other duchies for the mines, kelp farms, and other such resource nodes.

They needed a leader to unify them, and urgently. And so, they begrudgingly accepted the need for a monarch, which led to Cascade’s daughter, Lady Marina, to be elected as their first Queen in 1381.
She was widely known as a sweet, and caring dragoness, counting with many supporters and twice as many antagonists who would rather see her fall, despite her positive attitude and great efforts to make life for her people easier and better.

They all wanted a chance to rise to the throne, but Pearlescent Waves had grown strongly in influence and power, so the decision became ultimately unanimous.

With the founding of the Tidal Kingdom, came stability thanks to the Royal Army and Guard, and soon enough came the coveted commerce with the surface Kingdoms.

This example would be what would inspire the Elder Keepers to demand all other nations instate a monarchy of their own, as it brought stability to the lands and a cease to the worst conflicts.
