Where To Start

In Aethyr we use a "form" which you can use to make your Character or Clan (or Organization, Lore, etc).

Templates
Here is a list with links to the following templates for you to fill and edit as you see fit!
Simply go to the File tab then click Make a Copy.
You are not obligated to write any, but it is convenient in case of any potential future cameos.

Bases
There will be several bases for you to choose from, all of them fully customizable and free for personal use at Aethyr only!
And if you wish to make commissions or adopts, they will be available for purchase at my Ko-Fi shop!
There will be custom bases for: Tidal/Fear/Gravity dragons (their anatomy is the most different of all, and thus they require their own base), as well as Felines, Canines, Saarkyr, Faeries, Drakes, Wyverns, etc.

Rules
Basic rules that must be followed:

-
Follow the guidelines for what colors, markings, and appearance dragons should have based on available elements. Note: as much as possible, but don't stress about it!
-
Adhere to the element and magic mastery limits. Do not excessively apply high mastery to too many characters, please. Keep things a little realistic and logical.
-
Don't take disallowed occupations or mastery levels. Or if you have any ideas or plans, run them by me first. (You can find me at deviantArt, or Discord: carinaayland)
-
Do not connect or involve your characters or Clans with other people's without their permission.
-
Follow the limits further detailed below. If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to let me know!

Thank you in advance!

(It is a fun mini-game that prevents things from being locked to players and allows everyone a fair chance at the special or rare content!)

Elements
Unlimited. Only Chronos is unavailable for now.

Mastery
Community characters are expected to follow the rules of mastery for both element and magic.
Magical mastery has the same Tier limits as Elemental mastery.

-
Tier 1 - Minimum Awakened/Beginner age: 3 (average age 6)
-
Tier 2 - Minimum Harnessed/Novice age: 9 (average age 15) - Most dragons don't go above this Tier.
-
Tier 3 - Minimum Learner/Practiced age: 14 (average age 25)
-
Tier 4 - Minimum Skilled/Proficient age: 21 (average age 36)
-
Tier 5 - Minimum Experienced/Refined age: 37 (average age 46)
-
Tier 6 - Minimum Adept/Expert age: 41 (average age 55)
-
Tier 7 - Minimum Potent/Savant age: 57 (average age 75)
-
Tier 8 - Minimum Master/Arcanist age: 85 (average age 110)
-
Tier 9 - Minimum Primordial/Grand Arcanist age: 119 (average age 150)

Masteries of Primordial/Archon aren't attainable at the moment (unless the characters are dead).
If the character has high mastery in one category (element or magic), their other mastery must be low or regressing. If the Tier levels add up to 7, the dragon cannot progress in either without the other regressing in level.
These numbers are hard limits, and not just suggestions.

Variants
Pure Alignment Variants: as the darkest or lightest (black or white) form of an element, these are the rarest, considered the purest forms of the elements. Usually not available.

Element Colors
-
Yellow Ice: nonexistent. I don't need to explain.
-
Yellow Water: nonexistent. Reason same as above.
-
White Water: nonexistent. Reason same as above.
-
White Blood: nonexistent. Reason same as above.
-
Red Water: nonexistent. Because it could be confused with blood.

Scale Colors
-
Pure White: dragons are very colorful, and pure white is pretty much the biggest lack of pigmentation. It can only occur through Celestial intervention.

Additional Rules

-
Aether element and Nether elements themselves will not be available at any point to the public, as they are Celestial Elements and thus exclusively wielded by the Celestials or the Celestial Scions.
-
Most Nether and Aether elements will live within their own respective Kingdoms/Empires, as at the time of the story, only the Heartlands is a fully mixed land. Some elements can co-exist in other realms as long as it's the same alignment.
-
Corrupted dragons/beings aren't available at the time.
-
If you'd like a Clan founder (now deceased) to have been of a disallowed position such as an Elder Keeper, Archon or Primordial, Grand General or Grand Judge) do ask me. High chances are I'll allow it as long as the character is long dead, but the lore has to make sense.
-
If you make designs based off an IP (GoT, Spyro, etc...) keep in mind that you will not be able to demand those traits to be exclusive to you. Aethyr/Honorbound does NOT tolerate trait gatekeeping, and if this is a rule you are not ready/willing to abide by, I encourage you to seek out other ARPGs.
-
Ideas that are based off real cultures or countries are more than welcome as long as it's handled respectfully. Try to avoid stereotyping as much as possible: celebrating cultures is a wonderful thing, but you must always do your homework and make sure you're not disrespecting the culture you're taking inspiration from. You wouldn't want anyone to mock your culture either. And this applies to visual designs too (native headdresses are a good example: they are a sacred part of native american culture that shouldn't be used lightly or for any other purpose outside their culture, so you shouldn't make a character with a native headdress, since we don't have actual native americans in this setting. In the same vein, a dragon with antlers adorned with feathers is perfectly fine, as it is part of European Folklore and entirely harmless).
-
Content/Mentions of Child Sexual Assault (CSA)/Pedophilia is entirely BANNED from any and all of my settings. If I see anything that so much as alludes to this topic, I will use the ban hammer no questions asked. NO content will be allowed that puts a minor in a sexual context. Period. (This includes characters that MAY look underage yet are claimed to be older: this will be your single and only warning to not put that character in such a context.)
-
Content/Mentions of Sexual Assault/Non-Consensual must NOT be glorified. If I see anyone writing this type of content in a "This is horrible but the victim is secretly enjoying it" tone, I will use the ban hammer no questions asked.
