Nature.png

Nature, born from Aether, encompasses the different aspects of nature into three variants: Stone, Flora and Crystal. It is the element of strength, willpower, kindness, and mindfulness, with dragons of Nature often being caring and gentle giants.

Dragons of Nature learn to harness their powers through their calm and concentrated emotions, shaping the world around them at will.

They often discover their element through fighting, usually when in a defensive position. The stronger their willpower, the easier it will be for them to bend the landscape and nature itself.

This power has allowed dragons to somewhat “terraform” the world around them, albeit it is an ability hard to control and thus only Masters are able to truly make significant changes in the world. Most dragons are capable of other tasks such as sensing and gathering crystals or minerals, manipulate flora to their goals (usually to aid in farming), or help with mining ores.

It is taught by other experienced dragons who emphasize on the importance of confidence and willpower, oftent instilling a sense of protectiveness in their apprentices.

Other dragons have a natural respect for the Nature element, as it is seen as the strongest and most durable of all, and with it, comes a sense of security no other element gives. However they are also seen as stubborn or dumb brutes, and those in the army are often regarded as unfeeling warriors.

Nature by itself doesn’t have a standard breath like most, instead it has elemental manipulation, and depending on which variant, it behaves differently:

Stone: this variant of Nature is able to form small rocks to shoot as projectiles, or as a dense sphere and use it as a wrecking ball.
When it comes to manipulation, stone may be naturally levitated (which is not the same as magical levitation), with higher mastery allowing to move more and heavier rocks.
Another ability they possess is to create shockwaves, such as striking the earth which causes ripples of energy that will hit their targets with incredible force, capable of breaking bones on direct contact.
They can alter rocks of any kind.

Flora: having the deepest connection to flora, this is a variant focused on elemental manipulation, such as summoning and altering the world’s flora, with the most common ability being the summoning of vines, which will appear magical and wither away once the dragon stops channeling their element into what is known as controlled hypergrowth.
They may also alter foliage and wood.

Crystal: oftentimes confused with stone due to both being derivatives of minerals, crystal is both similar yet different from it. This element has no standard breath, however a crystal dragon may summon small crystal shards which will compress into bigger shards, thus creating darts of varying sizes.
These shards, unlike ice, remain in the world even when not supplied with magic or when the user dies.
Manipulation of crystal allows for the “sprouting” of sharp shards or spires from the ground, or shaping existing crystals found in the world. Dragons can also cover themselves in crystal armor which offers a fair protection against both force and elemental attacks.

Colors, Features & Markings

Colors

Dragons always manifest colors related to their element, and for Nature, this means some variants each have a more common set of colors, such as flora maining earthy or floral tones, crystal bright colors, and stone often sporting greys and desaturated tones.

Variant:

  • Flora: They sport the most natural and vivid colors, with a propensity for greens and browns.

  • Crystal: They sport the most varied colors.

  • Stone: They sport the most desaturated colors, with a propensity for greys.

Multicolor

Characterized for having a different colors between the main color and the core. It is often associated with the mixing between variants.

White

Be it core, main, or both, and independently of the variant, this is the purest form of Nature, and very rarely seen. Exclusive to pure bloodlines only.

Black

Be it core, main, or both, this is a variant obtained produced via dark blood mixing, and thus extremely rare.

Features

(â—‡ exclusive to pure lineages and cannot be passed down to impure generations)

Depending on the variant, dragons will have a tendency to sport features according to either flora, stone or crystal.

  • Flora: vines, leaves, flowers, bark-like markings; greens, sometimes brown, pinks, blues, etc…

  • Crystalâ—‡: opaque crystal growths that can either be polished or not, diamond or faceted markings, etc…

  • Stone: cracks, pebbles, rocks, hard growths; moss-like markings; grey, deep/dark browns, etc…

  • Natural Tusks: Along their naturally wider fangs, they are the element type that is most prone to develop tusks.

Markings

Nature dragons often have markings related to rocks, vines or crystals.

Physical Attributes

Strong and often sporting a stocky build, Nature dragons’ physique varies depending on their elemental variant, with Flora being the most lean ones, stone the heaviest, and crystal an in-between of both.

Abilities

Standard ability

Nature Blast

Natre dragons have a universal standard breath of natural energy independent of their variant, akin to a shockwave, and it makes it the hardest hitting of all elements. While other elements can be breathed continuously, Nature's blast is a often a single burst, with continuous bursts taking more and more mana. At higher masteries there is a shorter paus between these burts, and less mana is consumed.

Effects

  • Impact: Nature damages with impact, which causes bruising, and at higher levels it can even break bones. A Nature blast can shatter rock and splinter wood even more easily than electricity does, and at lower masteries than Storm.

  • Push: due to the explosive nature of Nature blast, smaller targets are easily pushed or thrown back due to the blast. It depends a lot on the wielders' mastery, the size of the target, and the targets' mastery.

  • Stun: a passive effect. When hit repeatedly by a Nature blast, a target may experience the natural energy reverberating through their body, like sound waves bouncing off of walls, causing further damage. With each bounce, the energy slows down, doing less damage, until it fades completely. This effect stuns the target, often incapacitating them briefly.

Fury

Flora: when a dragon of this variant enters a fury state, flora will gather around them either defensively or offensively, with vines of different sizes sprouting from the earth and attacking any threats nearby.
Terrain will often become hyper fertile within the area of a Fury caused by a flora variant of Earth element.

Stone: dragons of this variant will cause intense earthquakes capable of splitting the earth itself or raising the mountains themselves (or even tearing them down), causing major landslides and reshaping the landscape severely in a radius.

Crystal: crystal variant dragons will cause large crystals to rise from underground, often sharp in nature to spear through any threats, or explode in billions of shards that will tear to shreds any in the vicinity. The wake of this element is the second most destructive after Stone, where the crystals will remain forever as a reminder of what transpired there.
