Fear.png

Born from Nether, Fear dragons are the most unsettling creatures in the realm. They represent uneasiness and caution, anxiety and self doubt, with most discovering this element in moments of dread or stress.

Fear is taught mostly as a defensive measure, rather than offensive, and it is an element based on the manipulation of the mind, as well as sound, with dragons being capable of using it as a primary breath weapon, or as a secondary manipulative technique including, but not limited to, puppeteering other beings at higher masteries.

Their breath consists of sonic waves that disorient and disrupt enemies and their senses, with higher masteries allowing them to push targets or even cause internal damage.

Colors, Features & Markings

Colors

Primarily red, ivory, and other desaturated or sickly looking colors.

Fear dragons are often red colored or pinkish off-white, with tones that more often than not resemble corpses or other dreadful nightmares.

They may have other hues related to phobias or fears.

Like most Nether dragons, Fear dragons have dark colors for a base, and bright colors for markings, however in rare cases they may be quite bright too, with bone or ghastly hues.

Chromatic:

  • Red: all hues from yellow, to orange, and red.

  • Green: all hues from lime, to green, and teal.

  • Blue: all hues from cyan, to blue, to purple.

Multicolor

The base color may differ from the center.

White

Be it core, main, or both, this is a variant obtained produced via dark blood mixing, and thus extremely rare.

Black

Be it core, main, or both, this is the rarest variant and possible only in pure blooded lineages.

Features

(â—‡ exclusive to pure lineages and cannot be passed down to impure generations)

  • Quills & Spikes: Adorned with quills and spikes, fear dragons are capable of flexing these in simply up or down motions.

  • Sharp Features: Fear dragons tend to have very sharp and much longer fangs than other dragons, with longer claws as well, contributing to a deadly appearance.

  • Skeletal Appearanceâ—‡: Fear dragons are known for their thin or emanciated-like physique, but they may even have skull-shaped heads or parts of their body with thin muscle and skin.â—‡

  • Spiked Wingsâ—‡: in pure lineages Fear dragons may have spikes on their wing fingers and tips, above or below.

  • Aligned Scalesâ—‡: Fear dragons may display perfectly aligned scales, which contributes to a more appealing and majestic look.

Markings

Fear dragons often have markings related to sound or bones, or even animal markings meant to scare off predators such as fake eyes. Some examples are hooded cobras.

Such markings are often rather simple, but more complex cases have occurred.

Physical Attributes

Fear dragons are some of the most terrifying looking creatures in dragon-kind. Their frames are often extremely lithe and thin, almost skeletal. They are also the tallest amongst all dragon elements.

Abilities

Standard ability

Fear Shock.

A single bolt of Fear energy, range and strength is determined by mastery. It carries no heat and it is more of an overload of the targets' nervous system. It has no effect on inorganic matter.

Effects

  • Paralysis: the fear shock paralyses an organic target.

  • TBD: an active effect of Fear Breath

  • TBD: a passive effect of Fear Breath.

Offensive

  • Siren Scream: a high-pitched screech that temporarily deafens and/or paralyzes enemies, pushing them away from the user.

  • Sonic Bursts: a breath of sharp spines of solid, glass-like sound that explode on impact, emitting horrific noises and piercing the skin.

  • Mind Control: Fear dragons are capable of hypnotizing a target, working their way into their mind and taking a hold of their thoughts and actions, for better or worse. Higher masteries make it less and less detectable.

  • Sonic Bomb: a concentrated sonic sphere that bursts on impact, behaving much like a sonic and flash bomb that deafens and blinds any creature in a radius.

Defensive

  • Distort: an extremely specific frequency of sound causes the eyeballs of other creatures to vibrate, which in turn causes hallucinations and other strange quirks in vision that can disorient and frighten.

  • Soundwave: Fear dragons may slam the ground, sending out a shockwave of deep, rumbling sound that shatters any delicate materials in its path and blasts enemies backwards.

Passive

  • Mimic: the ability to mimic the voice any creature the user has heard before, as well as other noises or sounds.

  • Whistle: the ability to hear and speak in extremely high pitched noises; enables secret communication that only other fear dragons can hear.

  • Perfect Pitch: Fear dragons are extremely attuned to singing, dancing, and playing instruments; they will often learn these skills at professional levels with very little practice.

Fury

When a Fear dragon performs a Fury, a horrifying scream will fill the area, causing dizziness, disorientation, and eventually deafness, temporary or permanent.

Anyone who enters the area will experience auditory hallucinations for months after the blast, and this area may be affected for just as long if not permanently.
