Born from Aether, Solar is the element of fire, which represents both destruction and rebirth, and so other dragons respect it quite fairly, but some also believe it is overly destructive and thus see it as a problematic element, due to being highly volatile.

Solar dragons often discover their element through moments of passion, anger or other intense fiery emotions.
They are always encouraged to learn to harness it as soon as possible, usually by redirecting their strongest emotions, as it is imperative to have firm control over their flame at a very young age, lest they cause any unwanted fires.

Dragons of this element are capable of breathing ardent torrents of fire that can be shaped into a cone or a stream which, depending on mastery, has a force behind it similar to wind, capable of pushing things away.
It is also possible to condense it into fireballs as part of manipulation techniques.
They may also be able to coat themselves in flames, superheat parts of their body such as claws or tail tips, or create an AOE of superheated air, which may protect them from projectiles but is not solid.

The temperature never changes, but the intensity can be regulated through mastery, going between a simple small flame, to an intense devastating and relentless fire.

Being able to produce a flame at any given time allowed dragonkind to learn many things, such as cooking, warming themselves and others in cold climates, aid their smithies, etc… And above Trained mastery, they’re able to affect natural fires, such as an Apprentice extinguishing a candle through will, or bringing a forest fire to a halt.

Due to their ability to affect the heat around them, solar dragons are at their strongest in the hottest regions, where they may draw from their environment rather than having to produce fire themselves.

Often found in hot climates, it is a highly adaptable element that only avoids the coldest lands.

Their place of origin are the Igneous Lands, where most of the continent is fire-proof.

Colors, Features & Markings

Colors

Solar dragons usually have warm colors, such as orange, red, or yellow will be the most common, with emerald or purple fire also possible. Solar is amidst the most chromatic colors, and they will usually be bright, warm and natural. They may however also display cool colors but they'll be much rarer.

Tehy can display almost any color, with only a difference in brightness: 60% and above will be normal fire, but anything below will be considered influenced by dark blood, as the fire will have a darker or desaturated hue.

Chromatic:

  • Red: all hues from yellow, to orange, and red.

  • Green: all hues from lime, to green, and teal.

  • Blue: all hues from cyan, to blue, to purple.

Multicolor

The base color may differ from the center.

White

Be it core, main, or both, this is the rarest variant and possible only in pure blooded lineages.

Black

Be it core, main, or both, this is a variant obtained produced via dark blood mixing, and thus extremely rare.

Features

(â—‡ exclusive to pure lineages and cannot be passed down to impure generations)

  • Heat Features: Solar dragons often have features related to fire, ambers, lava, and the sun, and it’s an element that favors frills.

  • Natural Fur accessories: they’re the only Aether element that sports natural fur.
This fur will always be an “accessory” and only appear in select areas such as the top of their head, body, and tail, arms, chest, or legs.

  • Blazing Maneâ—‡: exclusive to pure bloodlines of Solar dragons, they are able to set their "mane" ablaze.

  • Furnace Heartâ—‡: in pure lineages they may have either a plate over the chest or glow underneath plates around the chest that resemble a furnace.

Physical Attributes

Solar dragons are often between stocky and lean, despite not being the tallest they can pack quite the punch.

Abilities

Offensive

Solar breath, Liquid breath, Pyroclast projectiles, solar bomb, Comet dash, solar lash.

Standard ability

Fire breath.

A solar dragons' primary attack is to breathe a stream of fire.

While in its pure form this fire breath is mostly gaseous, depending on heritage this fire can have ever so slightly different properties: those with frost or tidal heritage usually have a more liquid-like fire stream, while those with nature heritage may have a denser flame, and those with gale or storm heritage have a more gaseous fire that burns less but spreads faster.

A dragon of Tier 4 mastery is able to control if their fire breath is a short wide cone shape, or a thin, straight and far-reaching shape.

Effects

  • Burn: a natural effect of fire, it burns away organic matter with ease, while it scorches inorganic matter. Depending on mastery it can even melt a target due to their ability of maintaining longer exposures.

  • Push: only occurring at higher masteries, fire breath can act as a pushing force.

Offensive

  • Pyroclast Projectiles: also known as fireballs, solar dragons are capable of condensing their element into more solid projectiles that can hit a target and ignite them as the fire coats them.

  • Fire Bomb: a far more powerful and condensed form of a fireball only those of mastery above tier 5 are capable of summoning, specially due to how easily they drain mana. Fire bombs are different in how upon contact with the target they will rapidly expand the condensed element and level an entire area. The strength of a fire bomb depends on a dragons' mastery.

  • Fire Lash: an infamous manipulation technique that consists on a dragon creating essentially a fire whip.

Defensive

  • Solar shield: a solar dragon is capable of super heat the air around them to varying degrees depending on mastery, with those above Tier 5 being able to summon fire walls that will burn anything that comes close, effectively creating a shield.

  • Solar whirl: a flashy yet highly mana-consuming technique usually done in a defensive manner, dragons are able to coat themselves in fire and create what is essentially a fire tornado by flying in a tight circular motion. This is usually a last-resort decision and it's usually made by more than one fire dragon, as the fire tornado can greatly help cover their escape by giving their enemies something else to worry about.

Passive

  • Super heated area of effect, of varying intensity.

  • Heating up of claws or spurs.

  • Lava manipulation.

Fury

When a solar dragon enters a fury state, everything in a radius will heat up around them, with the most powerful being capable of summoning a small meteor shower that will level the entire area to cinders.
Others may raise the lava from the ground in small volcanoes.
This causes the area to remain exceptionally high in temperature for a long period of time, and sometimes the landscape may be permanently altered into a desolate or even incandescent vale.
It is one of the most brutal types of fury and often feared by many.
