"Glory in war and in peace. For the future of our children and our grandchildren, we fight." - Grand General Azure
The bloodline that watches over the Igneous lands since the family rose to Clanhood in 1009, and later became the Royal House in the year 1500.

They are a very proud family of strong Solar dragons, deeply in tune with their element and fully dedicated to the betterment of their Kingdom.

Naturally born soldiers, they often take leadership positions in the army, but don't shy away from other roles such as hunters, guards, scouts or squires, being often humble despite their high social status.

History
“Forged in the fires of War”
From the common soldier, to the famed general
year 500 - year 1009

When the First War broke out, the honorable family of Azure Solar dragons were amongst the first to support the front lines in the campaign for survival against the Entity. Doing their best in the worst of situations, they viewed the war for survival as a chance to display their power and attain glory.
During this conflict, Grand General Azure, a Solar Elemental, managed to coordinate a precision strike against a Spawn Site of corruption, successfully cleansing the area, and saving the lives of many who had been abducted by the sinister forces of the Entity.
Many lives were spared that day, despite having lost a good amount of soldiers to it, but their efforts and sacrifice did not go unnoticed.
From then onwards, the General played a grand part in the pushback against the Entity, and the Council would later recognise this.
After many years of service, the fervent support of the Solar Realm’s superiority by nearly all members of the family, as well as many successful missions and campaigns of aid to other Realms, added to the wealth and status gathered from reaching high positions in the army as lieutenants, captains, and even commanders, the Council reached the decision to recognise their achievements in 1009, granting Azure the right to form a clan, thus solidifying their allegiance and dedication to the Igneous Lands and its people.

“War Within”
Disputes and estrangement
year 1009 - year 1500

During the next five hundred years, the Sapphire Solstice Clan remained mostly neutral while wars were waged between clans in other Realms.
However, they were forced to take action as other Realms attempted to take over the Igneous Lands due to their rich resources thanks to the volcanic area, which had, until then, lived in brittle peace under the Solar family.

Few were able to stand against the battle-hardened azure warriors and their talent for politics, thus keeping the Solar Realm somewhat balanced despite the constant skirmishes, which at the very least were limited to their borders.
When the Elder Council finally stepped in and forced all Realms unto a new political doctrine that would ensure this would not repeat, the Sapphire Solstice Clan was named the Royal Bloodline of the Igneous Lands, with lady Azuravalys being named the first Queen of the Igneous Lands, a new major responsibility that she and her family took in humble stride.
Such an honor was very celebrated by the entire bloodline, overjoyed at the many doors that such high status opened, and feeling their hard work had paid off.
As a result however, they became even more strict than they already were as a clan of warriors, and they grew obsessed with the fact their genes result in a dominant blue flame, which they took as a sign of purity and even superiority over most other fire dragons.
Despite this, they still quietly seek to have white flame members, since that would be the true and final mark of purity of their flame.
All members of the House seem to share this unyielding need to constantly prove themselves, to show to the world what they’re capable of, how strong their flame is. Thus why they will do anything to obtain victory, but they always try not to stray into ruthlessness, seeing every unit under their command as incredibly valuable and thus having bold, yet careful tactics.

“Royal Blue”
Peace, hard earnt, yet hardly kept
year 1500 - Onwards
With their new position of power, Sapphire Solstice ensured their realm was fair and peaceful, with no more skirmishes between Houses, no more riots for power, and no more issues.
They were wealthy thanks to their mines and natural forging talents. They were well-off thanks to their self-sufficient fields of crops that thrived in the volcanic areas, as well as farms of cattle and other animals that also thrived in such an environment.
However, while everything seems perfect on the surface, underneath such a beautiful veil of peace and prosperity, lies a gruesome truth: without war or conflicts to keep the population busy, they easily turn against eachother, and while no open skirmishes occur, the crown knows well that there is an unfortunate high amount of political issues between Houses and Families, as the lines between high and low class became blurred.
This is taken advantage of by the Organizations of espionage and assassination that find it a perfect environment to amass the wealth of the rich who would pay to have a rival conveniently removed. Sometimes even entire families.
Traditions & Culture

Sapphire Solstice favours having a female at the helm of the Kingdom, having always had a matriarch in charge of the House, with General Azure being the only exception.
The heir is chosen by said matriarch, and must always be a blue fire dragoness sporting the House traits, whenever possible, while also being the strongest of them.
Such high expectations cause a lot of strain on every dragon even as a hatchling, but it is in their firm belief this is just part of their growth to become the successful hardened warriors they are.

Naming Convention
Usually dragons will have names relating to Azure, the Founder. Other members that don’t belong to the mainland are often given names related to their blue scales, or at least a strong-sounding one.

Element Differences
Sapphire Solstice has an uncanny neutrality towards all elements, but when it comes to their own ranks they sneer at mixing with any of them.
They do not care about Nether elements, but have a tendency to stay away from them, with the exception of Umbra, given how they have always had a healthy friendship with their Royal Bloodline, the Ebonhearts.

Social Status

Servants
There are many servants within Solstice, mostly rejects who either do not sport the signature blue colors, or are weaker than they would accept.

Wards
Sapphire Solstice sometimes takes in wards that exhibit a strength of flame that’s out of the norm. They treat them as apprentices and ensure they are well-off, in return for their service to the crown.

Bastards
Sapphire Solstice has little to no pity or empathy for bastards, often greatly punishing any members that make such a mistake, and disposing of bastards themselves, unwilling to let their bloodline extend beyond the mainline.

Inner Ranks
Within the house there can be an inner ranking system of the members, giving them a title to help distinguish them within the house.
Rank Determination
Ranking within Sapphire Solstice depends mainly on their relation to the family.

Members that are a part of the mainline, such as Queen Eileen and her descendants.

Traits & Features
Sapphire Solstice royals are widely-known for the following traits:

Mainline Exclusive
Traits exclusive to the mainline of the family.

Sapphire Scales
Blue of any shade is their primary, or secondary color, with cyan markings as a trait in the main line passed down from generation to generation.
They also sport a "cape" marking that is usually a darker color from the rest of the body, or/and "socks" also darker, with a light colored underbelly.
Fiery Mane
The mainline of the family is capable of setting their mane ablaze as a display of both power and mastery over their element.
It is used to either show-off, or instil fear in the hearts of their enemies, whom encounter a raging blue fire dragon.
Non-Exclusive
Traits that are not exclusive to any line in the family.

Markingless
Most members are born markingless, a defect that runs strong in the family. However, due to their achievements and popularity, they are never demeaned for it.

Mane
Solstice members are known to always sport a mane row of fur, from head to tail tip.

Elements & Variants
The house is composed exclusively of solar dragons, usually from other pure blooded families.
Any non-fire relatives are exiled, seen as a stain in their "perfect" bloodline.
The mainline is the most prone at yielding blue fire.

Trade & Professions

Sapphire Solstice prides itself in the strength of their flame, solely working in the army, although some have rarely chosen to become justices and judges instead, overall having extremely high levels of commitment to the stability and development of their Kingdom.

Politics

As a royal House, Sapphire Solstice is in charge of maintaining the peace and order, as well as the health of the Igneous Lands community. Which is no small feat, for a breed of dragons that is easily set off.
Solstices are polite and well mannered, and often mediate conflicts amongst their population, proving to be quite honourable.
Many know better than to incur Solstices’ wrath however, as they are swift and cruel with their punishment, yet the fact that this is never without strong reasons has made it so their society is quite free from altercations or attempts at destabilising the carefully crafted government.

Unions & Reproduction

The royal House has become highly selective overtime regarding reproduction, with romantic unions being sometimes disregarded in favor of a stronger and more pure suitor.
Arranged unions are thus the most common, and they keep any and all eggs bearing the sapphire colors of the clan as well as their cyan markings, and keep a close eye on those that they don't keep in case they turn out to have a high elemental talent standard, or yield any blue fire later.
Any non-fire eggs are seen as a massive stain in the House's pristine record, and are given to the other family, as they do not want their blood to end up mixed at all.

-
The Sapphire Solstices are the first House and dragon family I ever made, with Azura being the second original character that I created. They are thus, extremely dear to me.
