“Let thy blade strike true, for it is our righteous might that shall bring order to the realm” - Chief Valeryon

Stormblade is one of the oldest bloodlines of the Storm Realm, a strong family of vigilant and calm storm dragons who have served their Kingdom since its founding by Chief Valeryon in 1521.

They are very loyal and willing to sacrifice everything for their people, with all of its members being a part of the Royal Guard or Army, one way or another.

Traditions & Culture

Stormblade is very traditionalist, but they are often willing to bend this for the sake of their personal benefits.

Naming Convention

The theme for naming in the mainline is often names starting with V and/or having a Y somewhere in it.
For other branches, names that relate to Thor or Torv are preferred.

Ceremonial Events

Training

Stormblade has a special training regime that emphasises their use of their tailblades in combat, often coating it in electricity in order to deliver paralysing strikes.

Element Differences

They are rather neutral about other elements. While Lightreaver and Starfall both shun mixing with varying degrees of prejudice, Stormblade is more on the neutral side, as long as everyone does their part, and what’s expected of them.

Social Status

Servants

Stormblade has a fair number of servants that aid in the upkeep of their Headquarters and Estate, equipment, and other menial tasks that the House members are often too busy with their personal affairs to take care of.

Wards

Stormblade doesn’t take wards, and often see unkindly to any who does. They believe in a clear difference between the elite class and the high or middle class in society, which includes how wards should only be taken in by Ancestral Temples.

Bastards

There has been a case here and there of bastardization, but they are quite rare due to the House’s extreme policy against this. They would rather commit to smashing any non-Stormblade eggs than to let any live, specially since it is not a crime in the Storm Lands.

Inner Ranks

Depending on the skill of the dragon, there’s different ranks.
These inner ranks are required of all members, no matter their status. They must submit themselves to the House’s training or otherwise face exile.

Rank Determination

Their ranking system is purely based on skill and prowess with their famed tailblade that earned their House Name during the first Civil War, but it also serves as a way to create the elite guards the Storm Kingdom is famous for realm-wide.

Novice

The lowest rank, when the dragon is being introduced to the special techniques of the family. They are expected to build up their bodies first in order to adapt to their training regime.
These members often only wear bracers with a single diamond in them.

Capable

The second rank, when the dragon has gotten through the first phase of training and is then introduced to more complex techniques, aimed at honing their skill wielding their tailblades and other bladed features first.
Their bodies are more nimble, flexible and adaptable now.
These members often only wear bracers with two diamonds in them.

Effective

The third rank, when the dragon has fully learnt to control their body and taiblade, as well as explored their physical limits.
Only then are they taught how to manipulate their electricity to coat their blades in, as well as how to maintain focus and awareness during combat.
These members often only wear bracers with three diamonds in them.

Advanced

The fourth rank, when the dragon has nearly mastered the Houses’ techniques, but has yet to have real experience. Even if lower ranks have more field experience, they won’t reach this rank unless they complete the previous ones.
These members often only wear bracers with three diamonds in them, as well as a choker with a single gemstone the color of their element.

Distinguished

The last rank, and the hardest to attain.
This is when the dragon has not only mastered their own body, but also their elemental manipulation, able to sustain a charged blade and deliver powerful strikes with it to send shockwaves through a wide area.
They are given the ultimate test: the dance of blades. This takes place in the middle of a storm, and the dragon must face one of the House Elders in combat.
The winner is decided by the Elder who will put the recruit to the test in full. If they pass, they are given the title, if they fail, they cannot re-take the test again, and will be limited to a simple guard position within the Royal Guard itself.
These members who are awarded this often wear bracers with three diamonds in them, as well as a choker with three gemstones the color of their element.

What gave the House their name is their signature bladed tails, sharp and ever-ready for battle.
Stormblades often coat their tail blades with electricity for a paralysing cut technique.

Chest Diamonds

One of the known traits of Stormblade is their diamonds that decorate their chest plates. Their order tends to be decrescent from top to bottom.
They owe this trait to a few unions in the past with Lightreaver.

Non-Exclusive

Bladed Features

While some members may lack the tail blade, hey will have blade-shaped features, which may or may not lack membrane. Horns and spikes are never ridged.

Yet another trait inherited from past Lightreaver unions, some members are born with blades or spikes connected by fins.

Allies

Lightreaver

Stormblade and Lightreaver both share the same ideals, except the first lacks the extremism of the former, which has led to more than one headbutting situation. However they often resolve their differences either peacefully or through a friendly combat challenge.
They are even in terms of skill and prowess, and have great respect for eachother.
More than once have their families united through history, leading them to share a few features nowadays such as the ridged horns and marking shapes.

Starfall

Stormblade and Starfall are almost cut from the same cloth, with both caring greatly for their kingdom. They often attend social events together and both families mingle with healthy friendships.

Unions & Reproduction

Stormblade only allows unions and relationships with dragons of Storm. The mainline specially will look down upon with great grievances to any who mingle with commoners or other elements, however the furthest edges of the family may have liaisons with dragons of these characteristics and get away with it, as the family only has interest in keeping the main line pure.
