History
“Humble Beginnings”
From a Family to a Clan
Pre First War - First War
Before the war for survival began, they were a small family of humble healers that used both magic and herbalism to help other dragons, and even other species.
Any who required medical help, they were the first to be there.

This selflessness, never expecting anything in return for their fast and effecive aid, quickly earned them the trust and love of their patients wherever they went.
When the First War started, they would dedicate all their efforts to the field of medicine, pioneering new practices and improving them on the go.
They saved countless lives, and this would be recognised by the Elder Keepers once the war ended, granting Grand Master Healer Neve the chance to start his own Clan: Frost Reach, in honor of their home in the Glacial Expanse.
The family had grown exponentially in numbers, especially once the war ended, and they were able to settle down and focus on exploring their field of expertise further.
While some of their members decided to pursue other careers, they were not shunned nor looked down for it.

“To Care, To Protect”
From a Clan to a House
End of the First War - 1675
Frost Reach had acquired a lot of renown and influence for their feats in the field of medicine during times of war, and their success wouldn’t stop there.
They took a big step in their history and moved to the Heartlands for the sake of becoming a neutral party across realms to heal any in need, and from then onwards their accomplishments as healers would only grow in number.
They started new programs to train and teach any who would want to practice medicine, be it magical or non magical, taking many apprentices under their wings, who would become very reliable and knowledgeable menders themselves.
It was during this time as well that they saved many kingdoms from a mysterious disease called the Draconic Plague, which was fatal for many… But they succeeded in find a cure and create it en masse to put a stop to the deadly illness just in time before it became uncontrollably widespread.
“In peace, vigilance”
From a House to a Senate
1675 - Present
Many years passed, and eventually, in 1675, the Senate of the Heartlands voted for them to succeed the previous House at the seat of Healing.
They declined at first, but after long discussions between the elders of the clan and their members, they accepted.
Thus they were inducted as the House of Healing, and their senators would travel farther than ever before to bring their discoveries to all who would learn them.
They have been voted as the leading House of Healing ever since, and none have been able to compete with them.
Traditions & Culture

Algid Haven partakes in very few traditions, often being too busy for them. However they always return home for the Winter Solstice to celebrate the holidays with the whole family.

Naming Convention
Most names tend to be related to the stars or the cold in some way.

Ceremonial Events
Whenever a member reaches the rank of Grand Master of Healing, it is celebrated with a ceremony dedicated to their hard work, and as a way to wish them the best for their future. It is no small accomplishment, and despite the family’s aptitude for it, those who reach this title are counted in single digits each 2-5 generations.

Training
Algid Haven has their own training system, to the point Academies and Schools have asked them to impart this training at their grounds also.
This ensures that every member becomes a knowledgeable and competent healer, balancing theory with practice.
Element Differences
Algid Haven is very tolerant, barring a few “black sheep” in the family that believe in purity.
They tend to only unify with fellow Frost dragons, but a few other elements have made their way into the family as well, since they do not discriminate.

Social Status

Servants
Algid Haven does have servants, but these are paid workers that help them with menial tasks so they are able to fully dedicate themselves to their studies or work.
It is not uncommon for members of other Houses who wish to learn from them to seek out this role.

Wards
It is quite common for this family to take in wards, even if they are not recognised within their ranks unless they officially unify with one of the House members.

Bastards
There are no bastards thanks to their inclusive nature towards everyone.

Traits & Features
Algid Haven members are usually bright blues or a monochrome greyscale, and their markings can either resemble falling snow or soft snowy swirls or stripes of ice, with features resembling glaciers. These are most prominent on their wings and horns, but also trail like gusts along their bodies.

Mainline Exclusive
Traits exclusive to the mainline of the family.

Glacial Mask
One very recognisable trait is their mask that appears on their face.

Black Scales
A recent trait that began appearing in the mainline of Algid Haven.
These are members who sport bright scales and a black part of their body, be it tail, head, wings, etc…
Some have theorised this could be a product of mixing with Nether dragons, but it has never been proven, and the family is quick to dismiss such claims, despite their tolerance and respect towards all elements.
This trait can happen in one or more parts of their body being much darker than the rest.It can either be gradual or sharp, and it can occur at the head or tail tip, or the paws and top of the wing.
Any markings that go along the body will still be visible beneath this darkening however, and sometimes the brighter markings will be visible through the darker shade.

Non-Exclusive
Traits that are not exclusive to any line in the family.

Spiked Tails and Ice Features
Algid Haven members are characterised by their features that often resemble rough glaciers, especially when it comes to the horns and tail.

Another trait that some members may display, are the growths on their backs, arms or legs that resemble frozen fur.

Snowy Winds Pattern
Some members sport gusts of cold wind as swirls or stripes. Accompanied by snowflakes.

Stripes Pattern
This trait, which was rarer before, has become more common in recent generations.
Elements & Variants
Algid Haven is composed mostly of Frost members, but they have always had some Gale mixing.
