  • Stormblade | Honorbound

“Let thy blade strike true, for it is our righteous might that shall bring order to the realm” - Chief Valeryon Stormblade is one of the oldest bloodlines of the Storm Realm, a strong family of vigilant and calm storm dragons who have served their Kingdom since its founding by Chief Valeryon in 1521. They are very loyal and willing to sacrifice everything for their people, with all of its members being a part of the Royal Guard or Army, one way or another. Information Allegiance Colors Banner Element Trade Founder Leader Heir Founding Year Living Members Location Status Storm Kingdom Light grey, light yellow, navy black Two blades with lightning bolts in between Storm (Aether) Royal Bloodline Chief Valeryon (deceased) King Vycarion Prince Raylen 1521 201 Surgent Lands Closed History “TBD” TBD year 0 - year 0 TBW Traditions & Culture Stormblade is very traditionalist, but they are often willing to bend this for the sake of their personal benefits. Naming Convention The theme for naming in the mainline is often names starting with V and/or having a Y somewhere in it. For other branches, names that relate to Thor or Torv are preferred. Ceremonial Events TBW Signature Family Meals & Drinks TBW Training Stormblade has a special training regime that emphasises their use of their tailblades in combat, often coating it in electricity in order to deliver paralysing strikes. Element Differences They are rather neutral about other elements. While Lightreaver and Starfall both shun mixing with varying degrees of prejudice, Stormblade is more on the neutral side, as long as everyone does their part, and what’s expected of them. Social Status Servants Stormblade has a fair number of servants that aid in the upkeep of their Headquarters and Estate, equipment, and other menial tasks that the House members are often too busy with their personal affairs to take care of. Wards Stormblade doesn’t take wards, and often see unkindly to any who does. They believe in a clear difference between the elite class and the high or middle class in society, which includes how wards should only be taken in by Ancestral Temples. Bastards There has been a case here and there of bastardization, but they are quite rare due to the House’s extreme policy against this. They would rather commit to smashing any non-Stormblade eggs than to let any live, specially since it is not a crime in the Storm Lands. Inner Ranks Depending on the skill of the dragon, there’s different ranks. These inner ranks are required of all members, no matter their status. They must submit themselves to the House’s training or otherwise face exile. Rank Determination Their ranking system is purely based on skill and prowess with their famed tailblade that earned their House Name during the first Civil War, but it also serves as a way to create the elite guards the Storm Kingdom is famous for realm-wide. Novice The lowest rank, when the dragon is being introduced to the special techniques of the family. They are expected to build up their bodies first in order to adapt to their training regime. These members often only wear bracers with a single diamond in them. Capable The second rank, when the dragon has gotten through the first phase of training and is then introduced to more complex techniques, aimed at honing their skill wielding their tailblades and other bladed features first. Their bodies are more nimble, flexible and adaptable now. These members often only wear bracers with two diamonds in them. Effective The third rank, when the dragon has fully learnt to control their body and taiblade, as well as explored their physical limits. Only then are they taught how to manipulate their electricity to coat their blades in, as well as how to maintain focus and awareness during combat. These members often only wear bracers with three diamonds in them. Advanced The fourth rank, when the dragon has nearly mastered the Houses’ techniques, but has yet to have real experience. Even if lower ranks have more field experience, they won’t reach this rank unless they complete the previous ones. These members often only wear bracers with three diamonds in them, as well as a choker with a single gemstone the color of their element. Distinguished The last rank, and the hardest to attain. This is when the dragon has not only mastered their own body, but also their elemental manipulation, able to sustain a charged blade and deliver powerful strikes with it to send shockwaves through a wide area. They are given the ultimate test: the dance of blades. This takes place in the middle of a storm, and the dragon must face one of the House Elders in combat. The winner is decided by the Elder who will put the recruit to the test in full. If they pass, they are given the title, if they fail, they cannot re-take the test again, and will be limited to a simple guard position within the Royal Guard itself. These members who are awarded this often wear bracers with three diamonds in them, as well as a choker with three gemstones the color of their element. Members by Rank Novice Raylen Capable TBN Effective Velyna Advanced Velaryos Distinguished Vycarion, Valerien, Valkari Traits & Features TBD Mainline Exclusive Traits exclusive to the mainline of the family. Tempest Scales Their mainline features grey dragons, while the rest of the family varies greatly in colors Storm Wings One of the most recognisable traits is their wings featuring clouds with lightning branching down from them. These can be natural-looking, or stylized, or a mix of both. Tail Blade What gave the House their name is their signature bladed tails, sharp and ever-ready for battle. Stormblades often coat their tail blades with electricity for a paralysing cut technique. Chest Diamonds One of the known traits of Stormblade is their diamonds that decorate their chest plates. Their order tends to be decrescent from top to bottom. They owe this trait to a few unions in the past with Lightreaver. Non-Exclusive Traits that are not exclusive to any line in the family. Bladed Features While some members may lack the tail blade, hey will have blade-shaped features, which may or may not lack membrane. Horns and spikes are never ridged. Webbed Features Yet another trait inherited from past Lightreaver unions, some members are born with blades or spikes connected by fins. Natural Stripes Some members of Stormblade feature natural stripe markings Elements & Variants Stormblade is a bloodline exclusively composed of Storm element dragons, including all variants except black. Trade & Professions Formerly the leading Guard House, Stormblade took over the Storm Reign after the first civil war, when the Elders created the Kingdoms. Politics Stormblade stays surprisingly neutral when it comes to politics despite their own opinions. Allies Lightreaver Stormblade and Lightreaver both share the same ideals, except the first lacks the extremism of the former, which has led to more than one headbutting situation. However they often resolve their differences either peacefully or through a friendly combat challenge. They are even in terms of skill and prowess, and have great respect for eachother. More than once have their families united through history, leading them to share a few features nowadays such as the ridged horns and marking shapes. Starfall Stormblade and Starfall are almost cut from the same cloth, with both caring greatly for their kingdom. They often attend social events together and both families mingle with healthy friendships. Enemies House Name Description Neutral House Name Description Unions & Reproduction Stormblade only allows unions and relationships with dragons of Storm. The mainline specially will look down upon with great grievances to any who mingle with commoners or other elements, however the furthest edges of the family may have liaisons with dragons of these characteristics and get away with it, as the family only has interest in keeping the main line pure. "Glory in war and in peace. For the future of our children and our grandchildren, we fight." - Grand General Azure The bloodline that watches over the Igneous lands since the family rose to Clanhood in 1009, and later became the Royal House in the year 1500. They are a very proud family of strong Solar dragons, deeply in tune with their element and fully dedicated to the betterment of their Kingdom. Naturally born soldiers, they often take leadership positions in the army, but don't shy away from other roles such as hunters, guards, scouts or squires, being often humble despite their high social status. Information Allegiance Colors Banner Element Trade Founder Leader Heir Founding Year Living Members Location Status Solar Kingdom Light blue, deep blue, and cyan A stylized sun with a crown on top and below Solar Royal Bloodline Grand General Azure (deceased ) Queen Eileen Commander Azura 1009 (Clan ) | 1500 (House ) 165~ Sunspyre City Closed | Invitation only History “Forged in the fires of War” From the common soldier, to the famed general year 500 - year 1009 When the First War broke out, the honorable family of Azure Solar dragons were amongst the first to support the front lines in the campaign for survival against the Entity. Doing their best in the worst of situations, they viewed the war for survival as a chance to display their power and attain glory. During this conflict, Grand General Azure, a Solar Elemental, managed to coordinate a precision strike against a Spawn Site of corruption, successfully cleansing the area, and saving the lives of many who had been abducted by the sinister forces of the Entity. Many lives were spared that day, despite having lost a good amount of soldiers to it, but their efforts and sacrifice did not go unnoticed. From then onwards, the General played a grand part in the pushback against the Entity, and the Council would later recognise this. After many years of service, the fervent support of the Solar Realm’s superiority by nearly all members of the family, as well as many successful missions and campaigns of aid to other Realms, added to the wealth and status gathered from reaching high positions in the army as lieutenants, captains, and even commanders, the Council reached the decision to recognise their achievements in 1009, granting Azure the right to form a clan, thus solidifying their allegiance and dedication to the Igneous Lands and its people. “War Within” Disputes and estrangement year 1009 - year 1500 During the next five hundred years, the Sapphire Solstice Clan remained mostly neutral while wars were waged between clans in other Realms. However, they were forced to take action as other Realms attempted to take over the Igneous Lands due to their rich resources thanks to the volcanic area, which had, until then, lived in brittle peace under the Solar family. Few were able to stand against the battle-hardened azure warriors and their talent for politics, thus keeping the Solar Realm somewhat balanced despite the constant skirmishes, which at the very least were limited to their borders. When the Elder Council finally stepped in and forced all Realms unto a new political doctrine that would ensure this would not repeat, the Sapphire Solstice Clan was named the Royal Bloodline of the Igneous Lands, with lady Azuravalys being named the first Queen of the Igneous Lands, a new major responsibility that she and her family took in humble stride. Such an honor was very celebrated by the entire bloodline, overjoyed at the many doors that such high status opened, and feeling their hard work had paid off. As a result however, they became even more strict than they already were as a clan of warriors, and they grew obsessed with the fact their genes result in a dominant blue flame, which they took as a sign of purity and even superiority over most other fire dragons. Despite this, they still quietly seek to have white flame members, since that would be the true and final mark of purity of their flame. All members of the House seem to share this unyielding need to constantly prove themselves, to show to the world what they’re capable of, how strong their flame is. Thus why they will do anything to obtain victory, but they always try not to stray into ruthlessness, seeing every unit under their command as incredibly valuable and thus having bold, yet careful tactics. “Royal Blue” Peace, hard earnt, yet hardly kept year 1500 - Onwards With their new position of power, Sapphire Solstice ensured their realm was fair and peaceful, with no more skirmishes between Houses, no more riots for power, and no more issues. They were wealthy thanks to their mines and natural forging talents. They were well-off thanks to their self-sufficient fields of crops that thrived in the volcanic areas, as well as farms of cattle and other animals that also thrived in such an environment. However, while everything seems perfect on the surface, underneath such a beautiful veil of peace and prosperity, lies a gruesome truth: without war or conflicts to keep the population busy, they easily turn against eachother, and while no open skirmishes occur, the crown knows well that there is an unfortunate high amount of political issues between Houses and Families, as the lines between high and low class became blurred. This is taken advantage of by the Organizations of espionage and assassination that find it a perfect environment to amass the wealth of the rich who would pay to have a rival conveniently removed. Sometimes even entire families. Traditions & Culture Sapphire Solstice favours having a female at the helm of the Kingdom, having always had a matriarch in charge of the House, with General Azure being the only exception. The heir is chosen by said matriarch, and must always be a blue fire dragoness sporting the House traits, whenever possible, while also being the strongest of them. Such high expectations cause a lot of strain on every dragon even as a hatchling, but it is in their firm belief this is just part of their growth to become the successful hardened warriors they are. Naming Convention Usually dragons will have names relating to Azure, the Founder. Other members that don’t belong to the mainland are often given names related to their blue scales, or at least a strong-sounding one. Ceremonial Events TBW Signature Family Meals & Drinks TBW Training TBW Element Differences Sapphire Solstice has an uncanny neutrality towards all elements, but when it comes to their own ranks they sneer at mixing with any of them. They do not care about Nether elements, but have a tendency to stay away from them, with the exception of Umbra, given how they have always had a healthy friendship with their Royal Bloodline, the Ebonhearts. Social Status Servants There are many servants within Solstice, mostly rejects who either do not sport the signature blue colors, or are weaker than they would accept. Wards Sapphire Solstice sometimes takes in wards that exhibit a strength of flame that’s out of the norm. They treat them as apprentices and ensure they are well-off, in return for their service to the crown. Bastards Sapphire Solstice has little to no pity or empathy for bastards, often greatly punishing any members that make such a mistake, and disposing of bastards themselves, unwilling to let their bloodline extend beyond the mainline. Inner Ranks Within the house there can be an inner ranking system of the members, giving them a title to help distinguish them within the house. Rank Determination Ranking within Sapphire Solstice depends mainly on their relation to the family. Sapphire mainline member Members that are a part of the mainline, such as Queen Eileen and her descendants. They are all recognised for their blue colors and held in the highest regard. They wear the signature House attire which is always blue with cream colored accents, as well asa necklace with a Sapphire gemstone. Lapis romantic union member Members that are part of the family through romantic unions, such as King Bjorn. They are held in high regard. They wear the signature House attire but with silver accents, as well as a necklace with a Lapis gemstone. Sodalite arranged union member Members that are part of the family through arranged unions. They are hardly held in high regard. They wear a simple silver medallion and cape with the House emblem. The medallion has a Sodalite gemstone. Aquamarine side line Members that are part of the family by blood, but not directly tied to the mainline. An example of this would be the descendants of Eileen’s siblings. They are not held in high regard. They wear a simple cape with the House colors, as well as a silver medallion with an Aquamarine gemstone. Apatite adopted/warden member Members who have become a part of the family through adoption or wardship. They are often disregarded and seen as a problem. They wear simple silver bracelets with an Apatite gemstone. Corundum exiled or disgraced member Members who have been disgraced, exiled, or otherwise shunned by the family. They are required to wear a simple silver bracelet with a simplified version of the House emblem as well as two small Corundum gemstones. Sapphire Scales Blue of any shade is their primary, or secondary color, with cyan markings as a trait in the main line passed down from generation to generation. They also sport a "cape" marking that is usually a darker color from the rest of the body, or/and "socks" also darker, with a light colored underbelly. Fiery Mane The mainline of the family is capable of setting their mane ablaze as a display of both power and mastery over their element. It is used to either show-off, or instil fear in the hearts of their enemies, whom encounter a raging blue fire dragon. Non-Exclusive Traits that are not exclusive to any line in the family. Markingless Most members are born markingless, a defect that runs strong in the family. However, due to their achievements and popularity, they are never demeaned for it. Mane Solstice members are known to always sport a mane row of fur, from head to tail tip. Elements & Variants The house is composed exclusively of solar dragons, usually from other pure blooded families. Any non-fire relatives are exiled, seen as a stain in their "perfect" bloodline. The mainline is the most prone at yielding blue fire. Trade & Professions Sapphire Solstice prides itself in the strength of their flame, solely working in the army, although some have rarely chosen to become justices and judges instead, overall having extremely high levels of commitment to the stability and development of their Kingdom. Politics As a royal House, Sapphire Solstice is in charge of maintaining the peace and order, as well as the health of the Igneous Lands community. Which is no small feat, for a breed of dragons that is easily set off. Solstices are polite and well mannered, and often mediate conflicts amongst their population, proving to be quite honourable. Many know better than to incur Solstices’ wrath however, as they are swift and cruel with their punishment, yet the fact that this is never without strong reasons has made it so their society is quite free from altercations or attempts at destabilising the carefully crafted government. Allies House Name Description Enemies House Name Description Neutral House Name Description Unions & Reproduction The royal House has become highly selective overtime regarding reproduction, with romantic unions being sometimes disregarded in favor of a stronger and more pure suitor. Arranged unions are thus the most common, and they keep any and all eggs bearing the sapphire colors of the clan as well as their cyan markings, and keep a close eye on those that they don't keep in case they turn out to have a high elemental talent standard, or yield any blue fire later. Any non-fire eggs are seen as a massive stain in the House's pristine record, and are given to the other family, as they do not want their blood to end up mixed at all. They will depend greatly on their parent and tribe to keep them safe, and will mostly feed on tenderized meat and fruit. Juvenile (10-20 years) At this stage, Sarkyrs begin exploring the world and finding their capabilities, which will lead to solidifying their place in the world. Adult (20-50 years) Once a young Sarkyr reaches 20 years, they are expected to leave the tribe or family and either start a tribe of their own, or remain in the tribe after their pilgrimage. Elder (50-100 years ) Not many reach this stage due to Sarkyrs being adventurous by nature, and the world outside the tribe being harsh. Those who do, are looked towards for guidance and council, and are revered as valued members of the community that keep their traditions and culture alive. Their claws are curved and good for climbing up rocky terrain. Their tails are fully prehensile, and it helps them not only in keeping balance, but also dangling from the occasional ceiling beam. Their scales are small, but can range from very small to large enough to be considered plated, and they can be glossy or matte, depending if they take care of them or not. The colors of their scales can range wildly, but there is a slight tendency for cool or warm colors depending on their habitat. They usually don’t have patterns, but magically-inclined individuals are recognised for having elemental-like patterns, much like their draconic cousins. They may grow horns, spurs, frills or fins, and these may combine to form a more distinguishable individual. Very rarely, some may grow a mane, but this fur will only be present on their head, back and top of the tail. Their pupils are slit, with a discernible sclera, and they’re able to see quite well in the dark, as long as there is even the slightest bit of light. Sarkyrs don’t have much magic running in their veins despite their similarities to their draconic cousins, but when they do, these individuals are celebrated, often becoming tribe leaders. Rarely, these may also be ostrasized however, due to posing a threat to the tribe’s leadership. Different breeds/types Sarkyrs have three breeds depending on their biome. Arctic They are characterized for having a wilder look about them, as well as thicker scales and more fur/fur where it normally wouldn’t be to help them weather the harsh tundra. Their colors tend to be bright in order to better camouflage with the snowy biome. Desert The most common breed, with thin scales and few features. They also have the dullest colors, which aids them when blending in with their rocky environment. They are the most stubborn and headstrong, priding themselves on being the “original” breed. They sometimes have fiery features. Forest This breed is known for their greenish coloration, as well as a natural resistance to venom and poison. They are most at home amidst flora and thick woodlands. Aquatic Known for their lack of fur and small, smooth scales, the Aquatic Sarkyrs are characterized for their ability to stay underwater the longest, as well as their thicker or padded tails and webbed hands/feet. Height & Weight Sarkyrs are often short in height, and light in weight. Minimum Height is 1 meter, and max height is 1.60 meters. Minimum Weight is 30kgs, and maximum weight is 80kgs. Gender Dimorphism Males are usually smaller and weaker than females, yet with more vibrant or of higher contrast scalecolors. Diet Sarkyrs are omnivore, and thus have a varied diet of meat, fish and fruits. However they largely prefer cooked meat. Reproduction Sarkyrs reproduce much the same as dragons, but females only lay one egg. Hence why their culture revolves around female leadership, with the dominant female having a harem of the most worthy males of her tribe. It is also harder for females to become pregnant so it takes a few tries, even during mating season which usually occurs during the winter, when their reserves of food should be plenty. Gestation takes up to three weeks, and once the egg is laid, three months until the hatchling breaks the eggshell. A Sarkyr is only sexually mature at the age of 20, and stop being able to reproduce past 60 years of age. Habitat In a perfect world, Sarkyrs envision a peaceful land where they can live amongst their taller kin without fear of prosecution, able to raise the next generation in peace, and worship their own spirits without judgement. Unfortunately for them, the real world is a much more harsh and dreadful existence, especially outside of the Heartlands: the only place where this kind of life is possible for them. Outside of it, Sarkyrs are frequently bullied and even enslaved by stronger creatures, although luckily the latter doesn’t happen as often. Even during times of respite outside the Heartlands, fear of impending invasion and oppression often plague their minds. But, their proud nature drives them to persevere. As cold-blooded creatures, Sarkyrs prefer temperate or tropical climates. However, there are smaller tribes that take residence in colder regions as well. These tend to be more aggressive and harsh in more than just their hunting and behaviour, as food is far more scarce. They are incredibly adaptable however, their villages often found in dense woods, hills, or large rock outcroppings which provide safety and easy access to resources. These areas tend to have natural caves which they use for storage, plentiful food sources, and plenty of room to grow. Although, these also put Sarkyrs in competition with a myriad of other surface-dwelling creatures. Sarkyrs’ natural ability to avoid detection often allows them to hide the location of their tribe quite well, but eventual interaction is nearly unavoidable. Some less-violent races may see a mutually beneficial opportunity: the larger creatures may provide protection or gather more challenging resources, while the smaller Sarkyrs might be able to expand new living spaces, or perform more menial tasks. Although, not all tribes are this lucky... as evil beings often force tribes into slavery or remove them from existence altogether, seeing them as nothing but pests. Abilities As descendants of the Celestials, Sarkyrs also have their own special ability, much like their draconic kin. Though they cannot breathe nor manipulate the elements like dragons do, they are highly sensitive to said elements, as well as the magic that flows through the veins of the world. Thus they are often sought for the caretaking of dragon eggs, or offering their services as wizards and witches, or helpers to Sorcerers. Their repertoire of abilities however is mostly related to survival and adaptability. History Sarkyrs were created by the Celestials at the same time as their taller, stronger, and more powerful kin: the dragons. Elder Sarkyrs have always boastfully told the legend of their races’ creation to their hatchlings, pushing them to always do their best, no matter what. Throughout the History of Aethyr, Sarkyrs have always been seen as small and inconsequential, overlooked by many, and taken advantage of by many more. However this hasn't deterred them from staying true to themselves and their beliefs. They are often referred to with slurs such as Scaeling, Skink, or the worst of them all: Burrowers. Saaekyr owe their name to their place of origin: Sarkir. Historical Figures TBD Common Myths and Legends TBD Culture Although they are adverse to confrontation and are quite limited in strength, they know there is greatness within them, and strength in numbers. Their draconic ancestry makes them a very proud race by default, but despite their grand origins, many other cultures dismiss Sarkyrs as cowardly, senseless, and weak. However, these small reptilians find their strength in numbers with a solid social structure that stresses devotion to their tribe. Sarkyrs are quick and skillful with their hands as much as with their wits and intelligence. And they fiercely work together to overcome their physical limitations, having a strong sense of community. They can be very dangerous when cornered, fierce when defending their eggs and family, and infamous for the perilous improvised traps that they use to protect their villages and cities. Not all Sarkyrs use their skills for the good of their community however, with a handful of them often growing resentful of their status in the world, and taking any danger head on, becoming adventurers, or even the thieves and rascals they are often accused of. These Sarkyr are shunned by their own society and branded as exiles, unable to rejoin their original (or any) tribe, nor create their own, with elders saying they have lost their way and are no longer part of their community. Naming Traditions Sarkyrs often have names that relate to a particular feature of the hatchling, or to what they aim their future to be like. A few examples would be: Wildchaser, Sharpfang, Brighteye, Nighthunter, Palecrest, Coldstride, Ashspine, Redspike, etc… Females who are to succeed a Matriarch however, receive a special name related to the stars: Astra, Cerene, Lyra, Aquila, Despina, etc… Beliefs Sarkyrs believe in the Celestials, but also nature’s Spirits whom embody facets of their lives: The Spirit of Harvest The Spirit of Communion The Spirit of Health The Spirit of the Hunt Etc… Interspecies Relations and Assumptions Most Sarkyrs view any relationships with other species as something to either take advantage of, or to be better without. The only exception to this, are their dragon kin, whom they will always look up with wonder and respect, often offering their services to them, no matter what. Only the Matriarchs have the charisma to stand up to their larger kin, and even then, it is seen as a miracle if a female would manage to partner up with a male dragon. It is frowned upon however for females to bow to dragons, despite their reverence for them. Customs, Traditions & Rituals Eating Sarkyrs often gather to eat together three times a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Only the Matriarch has the luxury of a fourth meal between lunch and dinner. Coming of Age When a juvenile becomes adult, they must undergo the Pilgrimage, in which the young adult will be tasked to hunt a large predator and bring its carcass to the tribe. However, it is also acceptable to bring back something that will strengthen the tribe somehow. Way of Life Sarkyrs are fairly peaceful, yet very adventurous in their way of life. Death When a Sarkyr dies, there is a Wake held for them, in which their family remain in silent vigil for the next 7 hours, time in which the body is cremated in a pyre outside of the tribes’ settlement in a designated area. Religious Practices While believing in the same deities as dragons, Sarkyrs often leave offerings to the Spirits they believe in, particularly during times of need for them. Common Taboos It is taboo in their culture to have any same-gender relationship, under the penalty of being temporarily banished from the tribe. On repeated offense it may lead to exile. Stealing from other tribes is common, yet stealing from a Matriarch or a Queen has the penalty of death. Politics Sarkyr politics are often very simple and straight-to-the-point. Each tribe has their own goals and customs, and if these are not respected, there will be blood. Disputes are often settled in arenas and offer quite a good show to the tribes involved. They stay away from politics with other races, often keeping to themselves, unless trading is necessary. Social Structure Sarkyrian society is heavily matriarcal. Within this structure there are several social positions within each tribe however: Hunter/Gatherer The ones in charge of keeping the tribe well fed Warriors/Guards Those dedicated to the safety of the tribe, and compose the first line of defense. Guards are often a priviledged position. Healer Each tribe has at least two healers, and they are the ones who care for everyone’s well-being within the tribe. Even if they have to smack some sense into their fellow tribe-members often. Soothsayer A singular position reserved for the tribes’ talented individual who can look into Yggdrassil’s branches of the future. They are revered by the tribe as much as Elders are. Matriarch This role is exclusive to females, and is attained through force: either by besting another matriarch in combat, or by besting all other females in a tribe without a leader. They are expected to lead the tribe to greatness and peace. Major Factions Tribes do not often join together, but they might if there is a situation that creates a need for it, such as a common enemy that tries to kill or enslave them. Only the Queen of each Continent may join all tribes together for a cause. Most tribes tend to be at odds with eachother for territory however. The current most important tribes, each led by a Queen, are the following: Tribe of the Moon TBD Tribe of the Sun TBD Tribe of the Goldleaf TBD Tribe of the Alder Tree TBD Tribe of the Shadows TBD Tribe of the Crimson Spear TBD Tribe of the Spark TBD Tribe of the Frost Lance TBD Tribe of the Gentle Waves TBD Enemies TBD Allies TBD Ideals Beauty Beauty for Sarkyrs is directly related to their semblance to dragons. The more they look like one, the prettier they will be. Gender Ideally, there would be gender equality, as many males wish they would be as strong as their female counterparts. But in reality, females are at the helm of everything in their society, and their word is often more valued than that of a males’. Courtship While females take charge and leave the more daily duties to males, their way of courtship does entail challenges that put their strength and mettle to the test. Only the best males are able to have a chance even at courting a female. Relationship Sarkyrs have a society based on matriarchy, and their ideal relationship is often that of males being devoted to a single strong female that has chosen them after many trials. If the male partner performs well, they are accepted into the harem. Although there has been a case here and there of monogamy, which has seen as odd, yet not entirely frowned upon. However, a male in charge will indeed raise a lot of anger from the Sarkyr community. Sarkyrs do not usually have non-binary individuals, nor same-gender unions, and often frown at such, seeing these as a disrespect to their ancestral customs and an affront to their proud culture. Average Technological Level Sarkyrs are on a higher technological level than dragons even, thanks to their intelligence and smarts when creating contraptions and the like. However they don’t like to drag attention to themselves, even if it would put them on par with dragons. They have created ships and even flying gliders. Fashion Clothing Sarkyrs don’t often wear much clothing, only the bare minimum to protect their scales depending on their task. At home they mostly wear jewellery which can vary from hand-made trinkets to elaborated decorations done by the tribe’s elders. Accessories Jewellery is not restricted to females only, males often adorn themselves in hopes of impressing females, or to put themselves above other males. Tattoos Each tribe has a tattoo pattern that distinguishes them from other tribes. This pattern is often considered granted through celestial means by the tribe’s soothsayer, and are made with natural paint imbued with magic so it cannot be removed. However, in the case of exile, these tattoos will be removed, or worse, scarred in patterns that distinguish that member as an outcast for the rest of their life. Quick Facts Females tend to be bigger and stronger than males. While Sarkyr are omnivorous, they have a strong preference for cooked meat. Baby Sarkyr are similar to baby dragons. While they can make a home out of anything, their natural habitat is caves, with some having large networks within mountains. Their ears are usually small, and this is considered attractive. Longer ears aren’t as well regarded since they can be more easily damaged. The highest form of humiliation for a Sarkyr is cutting off their horns and/or tails. Draconic features are highly praised and sought after in their culture, often signifying status, beauty and power. Sarkyr worship dragons as servants of the Celestials, and worship the Celestials themselves. They are major hoarders of shiny trinkets, while also having a good eye for the most valued metals or precious gemstones. Most Sarkyr (with the exception of Aquatic ones) tend to dislike baths and prefer grooming each other or taking sand baths, as they aren’t very good swimmers. Saarkyr can suffer from mutations such as albinism, melanism, piebaldism, or chimerism. Female Sarkyr don’t get pregnant easily, which is what led to their matriarchal system having male harems. Sarkyr are often called criminals and misfits Females do not have breasts nor nipples, they have flat chests, stronger/thicker bodies, and longer eyelashes.
